William Andras Obituary

Bill passed away unexpectedly on February 24, 2026, at Baystate Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was 73 years old. A lifelong resident of Westfield, MA, he was the son of the late Edward and Edith Andras. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his brother, Edward Jr., and his sister, Lori.

A graduate of Westfield Vocational High School, Bill’s natural aptitude for all things mechanical and electronic led him to a 35-year career as an electronic technician for Sears. Even after his retirement, Bill remained a true “MacGyver.” He was the man who could fix anything, spending his free time building and repairing gadgets, always finding a way to make a device work better than the day it was bought.

Bill’s brilliance wasn't limited to the workbench; he was equally at home under the hood of a car. In his younger years, he spent countless hours in the garage building and tuning drag cars, fueled by a lifelong need for speed and mechanical perfection. This passion evolved into a deep love for Formula 1, where he never missed a Grand Prix, marveling at the engineering and strategy of the world’s fastest sport.

This love for machines extended into the skies as well. A lifelong lover of aviation, Bill built and flew model airplanes and served for a time as the President of the Pioneer Valley Radio Control Club. He loved flying any way he could and was often found at his computer, meticulously planning and piloting flights all over the world on his flight simulator.

Above all his hobbies and professional achievements, Bill was a man defined by his devotion to those he loved. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage, partnership, and a beautiful life. He was a proud and supportive father to his son, Bill, and Bill’s partner Laina, and to his daughter, Amy, and her husband, Todd. His legacy of ingenuity and kindness lives on in his four cherished grandchildren: Grace, Ian, Connor, and Shannon. He also leaves behind a dear family friend, Heather. Bill will be remembered for his quiet brilliance and his ever-present willingness to lend a helping hand. www.firtionadams.com
